Giants Players Postgame Transcripts 12/1

GIANTS PLAYERS

Wan’Dale Robinson, WR

(On the game getting away from them)

“I feel like from the start, you know, giving penalties and digging ourselves in a hole and it was pretty hard to get us back out. We knew it was going to be a rolodex of coverages, not knowing exactly what you’re going to get. We just played against a lot of different things. They made great plays and we stalled on certain things especially on third down.”

(On the hard hitting)

“It was another day at the office. I feel like every game we play in the NFL is a physical game.”

(On the loss)

“You know, guys are still fighting for their jobs out there. At the end of the day, we are playing for each other. We’re not playing for the playoffs at this point but playing for each other as brothers.”

(On Jaxson Dart’s performance)

“You can tell he really wants to win and he hates to lose. I just want to continue to do what we can to help him.”

Darius Slayton, WR

(On trying to come back from a 17-0 deficit)

“We definitely didn’t start tonight as fast as we have recently, but obviously that’s irrelevant. You have to get it going and find a way to get points on board.”

(On Jaxson Dart’s performance)

“I think he played well, he played hard. He got us out of some bad situations tonight and made some plays with his legs and his arm. Overall, I think he played a pretty good game.”

(On the Patriots’ agenda tonight)

“Yeah, I mean, they definitely came out with some intensity. You can see why they’re [11-2], and we probably didn’t get off as fast as we needed to. I thought we kind of came there and punched back a little bit. We just weren’t able to get us all the way back in it.

Jon Runyan Jr., G

(On the game)

“The game was almost slipping out of our hands in the first quarter. I think early in the fourth quarter we had a shot, down 15 points, to go put a drive together and once we weren’t able to do anything with that drive, I think it was kind of out of hands at that point. I think I feel like we played ourselves back into the game but that drive early in the fourth was crucial and we didn’t get it done.”

(On the Patriots defense)

“They’ve been known for years for just being a really schematic defense and they play their scheme really well. Their players fit the mold and they play their scheme really well. They run a lot of games, run a lot of movement, a lot of blitzes and they did that tonight. They caused some confusion. We were ready for that but they got us a couple times, we got them a couple times, and they probably got us a little more.”

(On Jaxson Dart’s performance)

“He’s a tough dude. I keep telling him, ‘save yourself’. He’s got to get out of bounds. He’s got to get down but he is such a great competitor. He puts his body on the line and we love that. We love his competitive drive. We also need him for the rest of the season and years to come. He is a competitor and he is going to do what comes natural to him.”

Brian Burns, OLB

(On sitting on bench alone at the end of the game and what was he thinking about)

“Everything that just transpired, it’s a disappointing feeling. You know, going through all that and with the way the game played out. It was disappointing feeling, so I was just kind of getting my emotions and everything under wraps.”

(On what was going through his mind at halftime)

“Just what transpired, I usually sit on the bench after everybody leaves. I just sat a little bit longer today. Just how quick they got up on us and, like I said, they executed well on all three phases, better than we did, and that’s kind of just what was going through my head, and how we can be better to get back in the game.”

Abdul Carter, OLB

(On being benched)

“I’m not going to get into the details of what happened. I let my team down today. The first two drives I was out, they scored 17 points. I take full responsibility for that. I have to be out there, and I’ll do better.”

(On addressing his teammates)

“Yeah, they know how I feel. They know where I stand. Like I said, I let them down out there.”

(On his last few weeks)

“It hasn’t been the best, but I have to keep moving on, keep persevering. I’ve been through worse things, so I’ll be alright.”

(On if his acclimation to the NFL has been challenging)

“I guess you could say that, but I’m not going to use that as an excuse. Like I said, I’ve got to be better. I’ve got to take part in what I do, be where I have to be at. Simple as that.”

Younghoe Koo, K

(On the missed field goal and his leg getting stuck)

“The ball and the cold weather, and the ball kind of slipped out at the bottom, so it was moving and I just didn’t, you know, I wasn’t able to kick through the ball. The ball was moving when I was driving to it, so I just pulled up on it.”

(On his leg getting stuck and it happening before)

“No, no, I couldn’t, as I was driving to it, the ball was, the bottom of the ball was slipping out, so I just pulled up on it. Unfortunately, yeah, I think it was last year or something. The ball slipped out and it actually, like, hit the ground. So, there was the same visual, but Jamie [Gillan] did a good job of, like, catching it and putting it back, but at that point, it was just too late for me to drive through it.”

(On tonight’s special teams struggles)

“We just got a fight, man. I mean, it’s NFL. People are going to make plays, you know. But we just got to go back to work and just try to improve each day and each week and just, you know, put, um, put our best foot forward.”
